Best Time to Visit:01-Nov to 30-Apr Getting There:From Otorohanga take State Highway 31 towards Kawhia, and the turn-off to Pirongia is about 15 kilometres further on. Nearest Town: Te Awamutu Nearest Airport:Hamilton Nearest Railway Station:Otorohanga
Accommodation:Pirongia has three free campsites: [1] in a grassy clearing 45 minutes into the Nikau Walk (with toilets) [2] halfway along the Bell Track (no toilets) [3] at Pahautea Hut, close to Mt Pirongia’s summit (with toilets). You can also stay in Pirongia Forest Park Lodge which is situated at the end of Grey Rd. It is a residential outdoor education facility available for hire.
